We cannot believe that our tiny 2 pounds and 15 ounce angel is 18 months old! The time has just flown by and continues to move faster! She is doing so well and keeps us smiling, laughing, and guessing at what she will thrill us with next! We had her 18 month check up this week and here are Miss Ali's latest stats. She has come a long way! We are so thankful to have such a healthy, happy, loving baby girl!
Weight: 19 pounds 10th percentile
Height: 31 inches 20th percentile
The doctor is very pleased with her growth, development, and speech. For her adjusted age of 16 months she is right on track and we are right on track with her 18 month development except in the area of weight. But that is still not a concern to the doctor since her weight for height continues to move in the right direction and is proportional. Ali is a very picky eater and does not like many textures. We are still mainly on pureed baby food and a toddler formula to ensure she gets the appropriate nutrients. She will eat Cheerios, Goldfish, crackers in small pieces, basically any carbs. She will eat a few bites of banana, but then has had enough. She loves yogurt and sometimes loves a grilled cheese. We will continue to work on a variety of solids with her and if after the summer she is still not eating more solids we will look into some speech/swallowing therapy. Hopefully over time she will get the hang of it!
Ali loves playing outside, reading and looking at books, and she especially loves her baby dolls, rocking them, kissing them, loving them. Any baby she sees in person or in pictures she loves to cuddle and say, "Ohhhh....baby" or "babu" as it comes out a quite a bit! She has started saying many new words over the past several weeks. More and please along with their signs were her first two words. She started saying mommy a couple of months ago and then stopped. I am still waiting for her to say it again! She is saying...daddy (a lot), hot, baby, Auburn, tiger, bunny, puppy, more, please, fish, Thumper (in one of her favorite books), toes, eyes, stars, and many other babbles, sounds, and phrases! She can tell you what a dog, kitty, turtle, duck, puppy, and lizard say. It is so precious! Her kitty cat sound is still "beow!" Anytime Ali sees the AU logo or a letter A she says Auburn. Ali can point to eyes, ears, nose, belly, and toes! She enjoys finding them on us rather than herself! She is not a huge fan of many of her toys. So we sort of stopped buying her bright, fun, and fancy toys! She prefers our old cell phones, plastic containers, spoons, keys, parts to her bottles, medicine bottles, dancing, swinging, baby dolls, and especially the house phone, remote, or computer if we leave it within reach! She loves to play chase (when we go get her), peek-a-boo, and sitting in our lap for a book. Sometimes she will sit for a long while! The girl loves her books and has for a long time! We are having the time of our lives being her parents! We feel so blessed to have her in our life!
Silly girl!
Checking out her reflection in the dishwasher! Precious!
Our sweet angel! Don't worry...it was a brand new sponge!
